(36th Infantry Division - T for Texas)
"Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday said he finds it "offensive" that the FBI is vetting National Guard members, including those from his own state, ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on Wednesday.
"This is the most offensive thing I've ever heard," Abbott, a Republican, wrote on Twitter. "No one should ever question the loyalty or professionalism of the Texas National Guard.""
"Approximately 25,000 National Guard troops have been sent to the capital -- including about 1,000 from Texas.
"I authorized more than 1,000 to go to DC," Abbott wrote. "I'll never do it again if they are disrespected like this."" foxnews
----------------
Governor Abbott indicates that he "authorized" the deployment of Texas Guardsmen to DC. That says to me that the Texas National Guard HAS NOT been federalized and is at present under state control. Given the disrespect shown by the Democrats, the RINO Republicans and the federal cops in distrusting the loyalty and devotion to duty of the Texas National Guard, Governor Abbott should withdraw his troops from the security mission in Washington.
The National Guard is a force with two masters, the state and the federal government when ordered into federal service.
Call them home! Now! pl
United States National Guard - Wikipedia
In a word, YES!
As a former Guardsman, I am disgusted by the thought of political commissars approved by Madam Speaker cleansing the ranks, and the impugning by 'the Honorable' Rep. Cohen of soldiers who sacrifice much and have taken an oath to obey lawful orders regardless of their personal feelings.
Bringing them home is long overdue!

Every Governor should call their NG troops home. Let Biden bring back the combat vets from Afghanistan and Iraq to guard the new Forbidden City.

I was an enlisted Guardsman for three years and a Regular officer for 26 years on active duty. Remember the Rapido! Bring them home.

Someone I knew very well was CO of 1/3 Infantry (The Old Guard) during the Clinton presidency, a period in which the Clinton man was much despised by soldiers. The Secret Service wanted the Army to take the firing pins out of the rifles of soldiers who went to ceremonies where Clinton was present. This colonel told the Secret Service to go to hell. He said that his men were sworn to defend the constitution and he would not insult them in that or any other way. The CoS of the Army supported him and that was the end of that.

Col. Lang, and all,
Yes, emphatically so. Gov. Abbott and other governors of Republic-supportive states should do just this.
Get the "militia" under their command, and keep them there instead of allowing the insurrectionists to whipsaw them around serving their nefarious purposes. Good practice, too, should the Republic-supportive states need to defend themselves against aggression from, umm, anti-republican, tyrannical forces. Just sayin'...

I wonder why these people don't trust our military, might they have done something really really naughty?

Biden's off to a great start. Before he's even inaugurated a dozen NG members have been found guilty without trial or a chance to see and challenge the evidence.
"according to two U.S. officials. There was no threat to President-elect Joe Biden, they said.
The officials, a senior intelligence official and an Army official briefed on the matter, ....The officials were not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity."
Oh, Fake news to inaugurate the Fake President. The assassination of character is real though; you got that going for you Joe. Great job "senior intelligence official" and to your assitant, the "Army official", for leaking this out though. I'm sure promotions can be expected soon.

Careful comrade, your views can be held against you in your upcoming show trial. They seem to to be very much in sync with the Q Anon terrorists that sacked the Capitol and then went home for dinner.
Now the USSA faces the even more violent K Anon (K is for kulack, proof of even more Russian meddling) that has metastasized from QA and is even now on the verge of flooding Wa. DC on the eve of Big Joe's inauguration in order to wreck it. And you want to call the NG home?
No comrade, that is not the proper party line.
You need to repudiate them immediately and then maybe we will knock a few years off your 'tenner in the camp.
But don't count on it.

Larry Johnson has been right on his calls. The fact they failed to gain any remedial traction is not his fault. It is ours. And we now have to live with this.
At least ponder why his alarming revelations never got traction? Who stood in the way. And why.

The US public is, in the main, too stupid, self centered and ill educated to take notice of LJ's jeremiads. Canadian are worse, hockey obsessed maple syrup freaks.

Looking from another perspective, the $25,000 now represents a cooperative trial response to mob rule with burning and looting. Has the mayor of DC now approved this, setting a fresh precedent? Some of the planning might have been done earlier during Trump's term.
Hard to say an exercise is unjustified when we know that local police and progressive mayors have quickly lost control in many cities. This could happen again, even without the regrettable kind of news highlights that mainstream media provided in the past.

The public at large will continue in their stupor lull until the jack boot of China's CCP stomps on their face, by that time it'll be too little too late.
The lame brains within CIA, DOJ, SS, and FBI will be thrown into internment camps or firing squads by the PLA. They're the 'useful idiots'.

I buy maple syrup from a Mennonite family in the Laurel Mountains not far from Shanksville. It's made from maple trees just a few miles up the road. Relatives in Florida indicated that they enjoy maple syrup, so when I visit them I make sure to bring a quart or two of Laurel Mountain Mennonite maple syrup.
On this last Christmas visit, I presented them with the usual quart of syrup, and they expressed their usual thanks. Later, I happened to notice as the jar was tucked away in a bottom cabinet alongside three or four other jars of unopened LMM maple syrup. I'll try to time my next trek to Florida so I can take Chambersburg peaches or Hagerstown apples.
On a more bitter topic, for the second time C Span hosted Arie Perliger to discuss "domestic terrorism" and home-grown "right wing extremists."
https://www.c-span.org/video/?507812-3/washington-journal-arie-perliger-discusses-wing-extremism-us
and
https://www.c-span.org/video/?475592-2/washington-journal-news-headlines-viewer-calls&event=475592&playEvent
Perliger claims that "the data shows" that right-wing extremists are more organized and have carried out more acts of violence than have those on the Left. As well, Perliger avers that "the data indicates" that members of police forces and the military might also be among the "white supremacist" right wing, an especially worrying situation, Perliger warns.
Perliger was educated in Israeli universities, where his PhD focused on Jewish terrorism in Israel. His dissertation
Then argues that
http://cup.columbia.edu/book/jewish-terrorism-in-israel/9780231154475I've not read Perliger's book, only reviews, but I believe it is safe to surmise that he is sympathetic with Israeli use of terror to defend against "external threats," a notion consistent with Ronen Bergman's documentation of the Israeli doctrine, Rise and Kill First.
Based on his two (almost identical) interviews on C Span, his attitude toward American "extremists" aka "white nationalists" aka "white supremacists" is exactly the opposite: they might take on the color of the Palestinian Arabs or Iranians that the Israeli terrorists he studied perceive as their enemies.
This is troubling, inasmuch as Peliger has taught at the combatting terrorism center at West Point; now teaches at University of Massachusetts Lowell in the department of Criminal Justice;
"trains practitioners at FBI, CIA and ICE;"
"has provided professional briefings to high-rank officials from the government and military such as The Secretary of the Army, Army Chief of Staff, and SOCOM, AFRICOM, NORTHCOM and JSOC commanders; in addition to
"informing the public" on identifying and combatting terrorists via contributions to various media platforms such as the C Span appearances.
In other words, persons who carry out acts that many Americans believe to be patriotic acts of resistance to oppression, are placed in the same category as Palestinians are routinely placed by their Israeli oppressors, by a person trained in Israel and sympathetic to Israel's sense of being under threat, and who teaches American law enforcement decision makers and armed enforcers to likewise perceive their fellow Americans as "external threats."
All the maple syrup in Canada cannot sweeten this bitter situation.

Col. Lang is right about the US public.
I have been in all 50 states, most of them at least twice and I can confirm that a significant part of the population is generally nice, BUT uninformed, lazy and badly educated.
Which explains - at least partially - the sheep-like behavior for the last 10 months.
It is easy to frighten the ignorant, lazy and stupid.

Colonel,
The USA is facing an existential crisis. This month is the thirtieth anniversary of Desert Storm's first invasion of Iraq. Eight tours overseas and two in combat zones in the Air Force can’t help but mess with one’s head. The closure of DC and 25,000 National Guard soldiers but no regular army troops guarding the inaugural is weird. No one is doing threat analysis. National Guard units are deployed overseas too. This appears to be to tamp down dissent but keep the Pentagon’s hands clean. Forever Wars, Identity Politics and the Wuhan Coronavirus have brought things to a head. The only way to fight the war against the virus, end the economic depression, short-circuit unrest, and live in a multi-polar world as a 50-state nation is to restore the Constitution and government by and for the people. This appears not to be an option anymore.

certainly not an expert on the numerous purges that have occurred

The bottom line is that SCOTUS has held that an election of any United States official can be challenged based on fraud or error by a writ of quo warranto. And the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals recently held that the proper venue to challenge the election of a sitting President is the D.C. District Court. We have a statute. We have a venue. Bring the receipts, President Trump. The challenge can only come after Biden takes the oath.

Joy Reid just said on MSNBC that there's an Old America and a New America and that Old America lost at the Capitol and New America won with all the votes Biden got. She went on to say more but I was too stunned to pay attention. They are talking now about unity.
But how can there be unity if the people whose families have been here for decades and centuries are supposed to be put out to pasture? It's not as if we can be given watches and pensions and the New Americans will just take over the country That's not going to happen.
It's like she has named sides for a neverending war -- and it didn't bother her at all. Well I guess she doesn't have to worry, she is one of the lucky ones because her parents were immigrants.
Posted by: jerseycityjoan | 20 January 2021 at 12:50 PM
Because it's impossible there could be any marginal Guardsman out of 25,000?
The FBI would look like total fools if they did nothing and CNN found provocative posts after an incident.
They only asked 12 out of 25,000 to take the day off, this is not a purge.

As usual, I have to add my comment agreeing with the idea that we have a generally nice citizenry, but a totally unaware and miseducated citizenry.
I've given up trying to explain why I feel that way and have decided simply to go into bunker mentality: save myself and do what I can to educate and save my two boys and their children, my four grandchildren. I'm doing much thinking and questioning to determine how I can hide financial assets for their benefit when the revolution begins.
I just had a talk with my uncle, my father's youngest brother. He was upset because his old friend wouldn't listen to any of his arguments against the Democrats while that friend simply kept replying, "But I've always voted Democrat" as if that was a sound logical argument. I do hope some Democrat policy bites him in the butt for his loyalty.
On the whole, I have to agree--no matter how snobby it may make me seem--we are a country of really dumb, uninformed or misinformed people when it comes to political and social questions.
Oh Well, at least our Social Studies and history teachers have done a good job of coaching the athletic teams that take up most of their attention since they are certainly not using their time planning good lessons about history and politics.

Laughing here, there will be some satisfaction down the road, my Biden supporting neighbor recently bought one of those big RVs, guess he doesn't know we'll soon be getting back to $4+ a gallon. I figure we'll be headed back to the Obama years, high unemployment for minorities and rednecks, middle east quagmires, high taxes and overall disillusionment with government. Mask up boys and girls, fret not, your UBI checks will arrive someday.
