I listened to a lot of the debate while doing other things. There was little said that I found understandable, since both candidates talked over each other so much. And since Wallace was too indulgent of Biden, it's no wonder Trump was compelled to be more aggressive.

It's disappointing to think that my fellow cisgender women (/s intended - FYI cisgender is a "woke" term that means born that way) are such delicate little flowers that someone who's willing to fight like hell for the sake of our livelihoods, culture, history and freedoms disturbs them. Are peace, prosperity, law and order worth so little to them that the Mean Orange Man doesn't deserve their votes? Maybe some of us take too much for granted and don't deserve the RIGHT to vote. I'm sick of hearing about "soccer moms" and "suburban women". Sheesh, buck up ladies. I used to hate the guy too but now I appreciate his pugnacity. Our country is worth fighting for. The alternative of Biden or any of today's Democrats is unthinkable.

In my Biden-Harris sign saturated suburban, totally blue Calif neighborhood, we put up a sign for a conservative, non-partisan school board candidate, amidst the forest of signs for his opponent.

One neighbor asked where they could get a similar sign. Then a stranger up the street stopped to tell us she was happy to see the sign too. She also thought we were very brave to .........put up a non-partisan school board member support sign.

That is what things have come to in California - yet, one flap of our butterfly wing allowed two more Silent Majority voices to speak up. In California. Where parents are really mad about the endless school closures.

Will this translate as a game changing back lash? I have my doubts, but glad I took a stand at least in my hood. My guess is most in this area will be shocked to learn there is actually another side to this race and that others are actually supporting the other side. This has been a Democrat super-majority state for almost 20 years.

Laura Wilson,

"most people will tell you how they vote. At least most of the people I know do...no shame, no problem."

This is only a recent phenomenon in American culture. I remember in 1988 when I was 8 years old at a family get-together, I asked my uncle who he voted for, Bush v. Dukakis. My mother overheard me and swiftly admonished me to never pry into people's private matters like that. She made it explicitly clear that one did not ask about someone's voting proclivities in polite conversation. Of course, that was back when your character and conduct were enough to signal your innate virtue (or lack thereof) to others. Who you voted for didn't matter a whit in others' estimation of you as a person. I'll take my world over yours (or what seems to be yours at any rate), any day of the week.

I personally don't tell people how I vote, not out of shame, but because I lack the patience to be dragged into a tendentious and tedious conversation with people who not only don't know things, but the things they "know" are so patently absurd and incorrect as to make the endeavor utterly pointless. We could easily have a much more enriching chat about other things. I also don't care much how you or anyone else voted. If you're decent in your behavior and comportment, I can abide your presence in my life even if only for short but polite conversation.

For those who did not watch or could not watch the debate to the bloody end: - the transcript demonstates the ongoing debate cross talk craziness -

Now compare the verbatim transcript to Biden's lies today and the media witch hunt about Trump being a white supremist. Pretty much the way the rest of the "debate" went - Biden piping in lies from the sidelines, Wallace putting words into Trump's mouth and then cutting off any Trump pushback. It was a circus.

Breitbart transcript:

Wallace: You have repeatedly criticized the vice president for not specifically calling out Antifa —

Trump: That’s right.

Wallace: — and other left-wing extremist groups. But are you willing, tonight to condemn white supremacists and militia groups —

Trump: Sure.

Wallace: — and to say that they need to stand down and not add to the violence in a number of these cities as we saw in Kenosha, and as we’ve seen in Portland.

Trump: Sure, I’m willing to do that.

Wallace: Are you prepared specifically to do it.

Trump: I would say —

Wallace: Go ahead, sir.

Trump: I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing not, not from the right wing.

Wallace: So what are you — what are you saying?

Trump: I’m willing to do anything. I want to see peace.

Wallace: Well, then, do it, sir.

Trump: I am —

Biden: Say it. Do it. Say it.

Trump: Do you call them — What do you want to call them? Give me a name. Give me a name.

Wallace: White supremacist — and right-wing militia.

Trump: Go ahead. Who would you like me to condemn?

Biden: White supremacists. The Proud Boys.

Trump: Who.

Wallace: White supremacists and right-wing militia.

Trump: Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left. Because this is not a right-wing problem —

Biden: His own — his own FBI director said —

Trump: –this is a left-wing problem. This is a left-wing problem.

Biden: — the threat comes from white supremacists. Antifa is an idea, not an organization.

Trump: Oh, you gotta be kidding.

Biden: Not militia. That’s what his FBI —

Trump: Oh, really, FBI, OK.

Biden: His FBI director said.

Wallace: Gentlemen, we’re gonna —

Trump: Well, then he’s wrong.

Wallace: No, no. We’re done, sir.

All,

Did you feel embarassed for the country watching Donal Trump in the debate? If you did not, I think you should seriously question why. Being a Republican probably has destroyed your sense of honor.

I watched the the show that was called a debate and came away with the same impression as you did about how juvenile it seemed.

I blame that mostly on Chris Wallace, who is, in my opinion, someone who greatly dislikes Trump. I think it's jealousy that Trump is POTUS and he (Wallace) is not. He was the worst moderator ever.

I disagree about your wife's point about suburban women. Yes, we do tell our children not to be bullies. However, I also told them to fight back against bullies. In fact, when one bully was bothering a stepdaughter as she did crossing guard duty by insinuating that she was having sex with my son, I got a little "out of joint" and called the police on that bully. You see, my son had tried to reason with this bully to get him to leave his stepsister alone soon became the next target of his bullying.

This kid was the son of a state prisoner. We lived in the state's prison town. When the police came to take my complaint, they said they had been having to deal with this kid all the time for the problems he caused in town. They took no time at all to help me. They drove ten blocks to the elementary school with sirens blaring. They stormed into the school to the principal's office but couldn't find him. (It was a Monday, so that principals was most likely discussing the weekend's sports with the sixth-grade teacher, the only other man in the building). So, they headed to the classroom to find the bully himself and informed him that they would be watching him at all times at that crossing and would drag his butt into juvenile court if he didn't leave my stepdaughter alone.

Some kids and men cannot be reasoned with. They just need to be put into their proper places.

Biden and his Corn Pop story should come to mind, though it always seemed to me that it was probably a little exaggerated.

And, on another note, thanks for the reference to Swift's Gulliver's Travels with the adjective "Brobdignagian" in reference to Comey. We could all do some reading in 18th Century English literature. It's call the Age of Reason.

I was so lucky as to be taught what now seems to be a quaint curriculum of the record of the work of masters of human thought. I suppose that is mostly gone now at my alma mater and elsewhere.

TV, yes. Trump has a face and an intelligence well suited to inscrutability, but by his nature he rejects the opportunistic use of masterful silence against an opponent in favour of attack. He is comfortable with that, although it would be fascinating to watch him experiment with the former.

Certainly Trump's manners were on display for the children in the audience, however I think that the good ladies of the suburbs will not want their children dropped into the kind of education system that would be created by the menagerie of radicals and leftists that will troop into Executive power behind a President Harri ah I mean Joe.

"Being a Republican probably has destroyed your sense of honor." This is a direct ad hominem attack on all Republicans who read SST. It is typical intimidation as practiced by trolls. I have tolerated you while waiting for you to show who you really are. you are banned.

The President and First Lady have tested positive for covid. They both feel fine. If Biden catches it and dies, the Dems will say Trump intentionally killed him and demand justice.

Col Lang,
Fortunately my mother is mentally with it and also able to fill in a bubble and as she only votes for President she voted without any difficulty. I know how she votes as she is very vocal and will talk politics with anyone and everyone.
I think women are able to utilize logic and feelings. We can walk and chew gum at the same time. I have met many men who use both also.

Do you think you have an open mind with regard to positions taken by the two parties? Ask yourself if you think the native North Carolinians among whom you now live are "backward" people who should be displaced in political power by those whom you consider more progressive.
