'The Democrat pols calculate that they can ride the tigers (virus and revolutionary mobs) ravaging the country and then regain control after they win it all. IMO they are mistaken in that belief.

If they win, the revolutionary tiger will continue to rage and will devour them just as later waves of Jacobins devoured people like Danton and Robespierre in the French Revolution."

That is devoutly to be desired, yet I fear the beast may be bought off with more stimulus checks, then to turn on the deplorables with redoubled fury. We provide them more targets and we are not as well protected.

The Deplorables are more than capable of protecting themselves when sufficiently annoyed and the their brothers in the security forces will not fight them.

I find it amusing that half baked academics still try to outwit me on the blog so that I will accept their view of things other than mine own. I also get silly people especially women who try the same things off the blog. I am speaking to a large audience that does not include you. Good luck.

The Twisted Genius

No one should count Trump out. A lot could happen between now and 3 November. If nothing else, the voter suppression campaign may go into overdrive. We've seen a rehearsal in the recent primaries with a drastic reduction in polling sites, especially in Democratic precincts. Trump could hasten a collapse in postal services, even if only temporary, to suppress the mail in vote. I doubt he or any of his rich cronies give a rat's ass whether the USPS exists or not. He now controls the DOJ to the point where he can stifle any investigation or potential prosecution for any of these activities. His true believers will enthusiastically cheer any of these activities.

If Pops Biden does win, he better hope he also gets the Senate and the House for at least two years. 2021 is going to be a rough year, far rougher than Obama's first year.

There is so much to love about that song!

What a prescient and wise piece of advice he gave about sending those people back south in 1928; if only.

Scrutinize your local school board elections. It all starts at the bottom; blame does not belong exclusively at the top.

The hands that rock the cradle, rule the world. Which is why teacher union Democrats demand "universal pre-K and universal child care. Give me the boy, and I will mold the man.

Pay attention to your school boards. Teachers union members form a huge voting block in every community. For every office.

"The Deplorables are more than capable of protecting themselves when sufficiently annoyed and the their brothers in the security forces will not fight them." My optimistic moments lead me to believe this assessment to be correct. It's one of the rare sources of optimism I allow myself these days.

I've often wondered what role the rank and file fighting forces in the United States military would play in such domestic upheaval as seems immanent. I remember Col. Lang presenting some data a while back indicating that the forward combat forces in the US military are made up overwhelmingly of people from the South and Mountain states, in other words Deplorable country.

I also recall in 2016 at some point, Tyler made an observation to someone contending that the military would somehow carry out the purges that a despotic Dem/HRC administration would attempt on the Deplorables. His take was along the lines of "do you really think that military/LEOs will fight their own families?" Of course, his actual line had much more lyrical flourish.

On another note, about six months ago I was listening to a Joe Rogan podcast featuring a retired SEAL operator. As they were discussing the domestic political scene and ANTIFA's presence in it, the retired SEAL casually remarked, "I can tell you this, a lot of my brothers and I are kind of waiting to see how this all pans out, but we're all pretty much itchin' and ready to jump back in the game when time comes." My main question is how would a resistance of the Deplorables coalesce into something organized and effective? Around whom could it coalesce?

Something shifted this month. Donald Trump’s hold on history loosened, and may be breaking. In some new way his limitations are being seen and acknowledged, and at a moment when people are worried about the continuance of their country and their own ability to continue within it. He hasn’t been equal to the multiple crises. Good news or bad, he rarely makes any situation better. And everyone kind of knows.

Peggy Noonan is an astute observer. She is echoing Col. Lang, that Trump voters want to see firm leadership to bring stability from the mobs. They also want to see resolute leadership on the pandemic. A strong sense that the hysteria created by the media narrative is being countered with real action to prevent the prolongation of the lockdown. Many people want to return to normal with confidence that the pandemic is under control.

blue peacock is on to something. Trump needs Bannon quick.

Or, the object of this color revolution is to unseat Trump as the Republican candidate. The Dems are in on it. The allied hordes of marxo-anarchists arebeing manipulate for this purpose with a view to getting Trump to over react and provide a pretext. He has figured this out and is staying schtum. In any case authority lies with the states in these things.
Maybe the pre-covid boom was a stock market boom only which has been decoupled from the real economy.
Its a mystery why anyone would expect anything better from the Dems.

If History is repeating itself, and I think there is a reasonable, anyway, chance it is, then Biden (weak centerist, at best) has to play his role. It went from the King, to the Girondins, the moderates, and THEN to Jacobins. In Russia, from the Czar to the Mensheviks, social democrats, and THEN to the Bolsheviks. So it has to go to Biden next. And then we will see what we will see.

Its too big a bite to directly to the radicals. They need a weak centrist party to bring down.

turcopolier

jonst

Yes. The Democrats can perform the bridging role that the Mensheviks did.

Our Democratic brethren are not completely stupid as they know they have a better hand in kicking Donald around for another four years versus electing a sick old man who will not be able to do more than two years and who will have to turn it over to whoever Clyburn picks as the VP. Let them riot in the streets and cower in their homes as that will insure they vote for the one with a strong hand not old Joe who has been living off the dole for 50 plus years.
The real fight is in the Senate.

The Monarchical France was never a decentralized state like the contemporary United States with its Federal Structure.

For Revolution in the United States, requires, in my opinion, the collapse of legitimate authority in both Federal as well as state levels.

In my opinion, those conditions are not going to obtain in the United States.

Fred

TTG,

"especially in Democratic precincts."
The Democrats in office did that themselves, a point you leave out.

"He now controls the DOJ..."
How DARE HE be the head of the executive branch and direct the conduct of all of its components.

All those state and city shutdown orders using Covid19 as an excuse - as we have been seeing them used to punish the middle class - would of course have no effect on voting in person. The latest news of a 20% fraud rate in a vote by mail election in NJ is in no way emblamatic of corruption in other municipalities. Not at all.....

Babak makkinejad

In the Russian Empire, two Revolutions occurred. But the material cause of both was the collapse of Legitimate Imperial Authority under the duress of 3 years of bloodletting with failure to win.

That does not obtain in the United States.

In my opinion, this elimination of Legitimate Authority, however corrupt, incompetent, venal, and inefficient it might have been, often times leads to civil war.

It happened when Safavid rule was destroyed, when Napoleon destroyed its analogue in Spain (at which time all of Spanish America plunged inot civil war), and when Romanov's legitimacy could no longer be sustained.

Not so yet in the United States.

However, what Trump has demonstrated is that, legalistically speaking, the United States Federal government is the President of the United States, that is: he is the state: "L'etat c'est moi!"

The famous adage of Louis 14, recently given a new guise under the theory of Unitary Executive.

Polish Janitor

Col. Lang,

I have the same feeling about all of this. I tend to believe that nothing of such scale and magnitude happens by random and under normal circumstances. The big objective is to force Trump out of power by any means necessary and in the past few weeks it has become so apparent that even the trinagle of gold, god, and guns (i.e. the economy, the religious Right, and the military) that were once supportive of Trump are withdrawing their confidence from him step by step.

The modern Republican Party polity formed under the leadership of Reagan too are working tirelessly to make sure Trump is not going to dominate the G.O.P, the example: John Bolton, The Lincoln Project, The Right Pac, NeverTrumpers, etc... Newt Gingrich too is very skeptical of Trump 2020 re-election chances. Several congressional seats for example in Arizona, Michigan, Texas and Kentucky are also in jeopardy since the leadership is so weak nowadays that even the idea of a Trump endorsement may backfire and lead to a Democrat win.

I believe the powers that be want trump out so bad that they would bring a 3rd party independent candidate, much like when they brought Evan McMullin from Utah late in 2016 to cut some of Trump's votes and to ensure a Biden victory. My guess is:

1. Nikki Haley (she had a big council for national policy in late 2018 soon after leaving the UN post)

2. Will Hurd R-Tx. (a CIA guy, chose not to seek re-election in 2020 and there is big profile of him by the NYT in 2019 that portrays him a promising next rising star of GOP)

3. John James (running a senatorial bid in MI, was endorsed by Bolton a while back, he's like an African American version of Tom Cotton and very interventionist in F.P.)

4. General Mattis (the unifier, the next Icke?!)

5. Tom Cotton (as the most hawkish guy in all of congress and is already showing his willingness to take on China, plus huge war chest and donor network)

6. Justin Amash (splitting the GOP and taking in a big chunk of the independent vote)

So is the Trump ship sinking?

Harry

Im not sure Col. I think the Dem cabal are ruthless sons o'bitches, and will very happily kill lots of their fellow Americans.

The Twisted Genius

Fred,

The last election in Georgia was supervised by the Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Democratic precincts (largely black) had few poling places, few working voting machines and long lines. The Republican precincts had working machines and no lines. Even Raffensperger had to admit there was a problem since it got such wide publicity. Similar problems existed in the 2018 elections when Brian Kemp was the Secretary of State overseeing the election... his own election.

That 20% figure in NJ was for invalidated mail-in ballots, not necessarily fraud. Those ballots were not counted at all. OTOH, a North Carolina election in 2018 had to be redone after a Republican operative was convicted of real fraud in connection with enough absentee ballots to invalidate the election.

"“The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia will not stand idly by and allow our national monuments to be vandalized and destroyed. This Office remains steadfast in its commitment to protect the sacred First Amendment right of individuals to peacefully protest, but these charges should serve as a warning to those who choose to desecrate the statues and monuments that adorn our nation’s capital: your violent behavior and criminal conduct will not be tolerated,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Michael R. Unless and until Republicans explicitly voice support of white people as such, they should receive no support from us. If they cannot speak our name aloud, they are worse than useless, and should be discarded.

AK,

"I can tell you this, a lot of my brothers and I are kind of waiting to see how this all pans out, but we're all pretty much itchin' and ready to jump back in the game when time comes."

The Seals game is not supposed to take place in the US and I hope it never does. I do not know what you mean by resistance of the Deplorables.

I think the average and below average people in the US have many legitimate complaints. The problem is to get them to forget about their differences and focus on what unites them and to find leadership. They have so much more power, working together, than they or the elites realize.

505thPIR,
thanks for the link, I listened to the talk, and the full hour was very enjoyable. Most of the observations from that Soviet times are ´mutatis mutandis´ applicable to todays political situation. But this time it is not Russian subversion, but the revolutionary "egalité ,liberté, fraternité, " at work, and it is driven by the ´hidden hand´ - and i don't know who's hand it is anymore.

Very foolish to think the Legions can be endlessly provoked even unto the destruction of the character of the country they fought for. Very foolish.
