It is a privilege just to be able to read your fascinating blog Colonel and I hope to do so for many years to come. In occasionally offering comments I willingly submit to your editorial tyranny. I do so out of great respect for both your values and your wisdom. Long live SST.

God bless you, I say the following as a latent socialist Québécois nationalist with certain sunni jihadi sympathizing tendencies: Reading SST throughout these years made me rediscover my long-dormant love for the USA and what she ultimately stands for, without being too cliched I thank you for your great patience Colonel and the truly unique platform you have created here which, I think, remains and will remain unrivaled throughout all corners of the internet in its offerings of breadth/depth of knowledge and experience.Thank you,for everything.

I respect your post and SST. Please stay strong and well. I tonight made a contribution in support of your work.

Please continue. It's fascinating to read your posts.

Thank you, Col. Lang for your site. This very good news from the BBC caught my attention this morning: "A breathing aid that can help keep coronavirus patients out of intensive care has been created in under a week." https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52087002

I believe such collaboration between government, academe, and industry shows what is possible when they turn their attention to many of the challenges facing us.

Unhinged Citizen

The breadth of topics and the collective credentials of Mr. Lang and contributors make this one of very few blogs I actively follow.

Please keep it that way.

I will not only submit to your "tyranny," I respect and greatly enjoy it. It is what makes this place as valuable as it is.

I know I have pissed you off many times but I hold you and your principles in the highest regard.

Total respect.

No problem for me

Not a coat of arms. It is the regimental "Color" (flag) of the 10th Group of the 1st Special Forces Regiment. There is also a coat of arms, and distinctive insignia. The background color of this flag is "Jungle Green" which is the color associated with the Special Forces Regiment. It appears on uniform trimmings, etc. There are other colors associated with all the other basic branches of the US Army; light blue for infantry, yellow for armor, red for artillery, etc. On the blazon in the center there is a Fairbairn Commando knife to indicate the character of the regiment. There is a wiki on US Army Special Forces. The blad eagle is the national animal of the US. In one claw it holds the laurel branch of peace and in the other the arrows of war. The eagle's head is turned to the laurel branch. Over the eagles head are the crossed arrows that are the branch insignia (collar) of the SF. "De Oppresso Liber" is the motto of the regiment. There is also a national color which is simply the US flag. The two flags are normally marched together in a color party. The US national color is never dipped to honor someone or something but the regimental color is.

They are. Are you a 70 year old man or the Lolita of the dreams of some here?

Grateful for Sic Semper Tyrannis.

Sir, please continue writing here through the end of the year. The best is yet to come.

Bravo Sir. You do fine work and are clearly a patriot. FWLIW, I applaud you.

SST is a beacon of sanity in a crazy world, Colonel. Please keep it going!

You mention the virus. It's hit Europe like a bomb. I have little confidence that the sclerotic European administrations will handle the effects of it right. I notice that the European governments including mine are still supporting sanctions in the ME and that this will seriously hamper the efforts of countries there to combat the pandemic. Quem Deus vult perdere ...

I hope that you and your committee of correspondents keep well. And that SST continues as it did - there are many of us for whom that matters.
