I would love to see the movie, actually.

All,

For many years, I paid for subscription to the ‘Financial Times’, and used from time to time to comment on articles.

As elsewhere, I intermittently got censored.

My favourite occasion was when – I cannot remember whether it was in response to an article by Simon Schama or Lord Skidelsky – I suggested that contemporary Western élites made the pre-1789 French aristocracy ear-to-the-ground, and in touch.

The film makes a good point - every slimy, lying, filthy corrupt scum oozing their way through the power structure of what once was our Republic has a body and a head that can be separated from it. There really aren't that many of them. And they are concentrated in few places.

is a brutal film. The baddies are veterans of Vietnam although some of their misdeeds predate that war. Fascinating that hunting humans for sport could ever be considered for mainstream Hollywood treatment.

This isn't that new...several years ago there was a TV movie based on putting a group of young people out in the wilderness and in order to survive the "master manipulators' who set them up they had to kill each other...the last one alive would be allowed to live and win a reward.

Pretty good eh?...getting the peasants to kill each other off...think about it.

Barbara Ann

The movie's official trailer included the following:

"But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal, knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman at the center of it all."

When the producers say "satire" they are clearly being satirical. They of course mean "allegory".

Sounds like another Remake of "The Hunger Games"with Slight Variations...and The Hunted Being "Deplorables"' So Hollywood can get its Kicks..and Make a lot of Money..Lets Fast Forward Right after Its Release to a Remake of the 1971 Film "Omega Man" starring Charleton Heston..in the Los Angeles of the Future..Everyone has turned into Blood Sucking Zombies..who only come out at Night..and Heston things He is Last Last Normal Human Alive....That could be redone with some Interesting Twists..maybe Starring Clint Eastwood..His Westerns had Great Music..

I vividly remember the dystopic movie of the seventies titled "Punishment Park", (as you, Colonel, I guess) where leftists were hunted like ferals under promise of mercy if they could survive.

50 years later, le gibier (as we said in France) are the deplorables, a mix between disenfranchised blue collars, red necks (no offense here, my grand father was farm worker) , and all inhabitants of the "fly over country".

To paraphrase Dylan, Times have changed... for sure, but for the worst. The cultural/societal ( and crazy) hegemony of the pseudo-left that Trump has crushed won't last.

The movie's plot seems a bit of a rehash but it made me think of "Predators" made in 2010, which is not bad.
I find it amusing that Dennis from "It's Always Sunny..." plays one of the antagonists

Michael J Regan

I was told about a family that engaged in the practice of 'hunting' campesinos in the agricultural areas outside of Chiclayo, Peru by an eyewitness/family member. One salient feature of this gentleman was his persistent clinical depression, possibly a consequence of seeing his grandfather murder poor rural folk in the late 40s, early 50s. This sort of thing has happened in various parts of the world and will happen again. Psychopaths are more common than one willing countenances.

Sounds like another Remake of "The Hunger Games

Or The Running Man. In the end Snowpiercer is along the same lines.

Jim Ticehurst

Yes....Rock Solid...You can watch it at Home..With a Good Cigar.Well Done..

There have been about a dozen flics with the same plot. And many more TV shows. Just a few slight variations. Hollywood has no creativity, they just keep running the same stories over and over. Cheaper that way as they don't have to buy the rights. Just hire some flack screenwriter for peanuts to scribble out a retread.

Brought to mind this old Bloom County comic:

"if the Deplorables turn on us, what can we do? Hit them with our NPR tote bags?" That may be a reason for European élites to import massively African and Muslim immigrants with little political consciousness but still feral enough to form militias - beside the economic interest to import workers without trade-unionist traditions.
