Even at this late point in my life I find it surprising to watch retired officers boast on TV that their military minds are impervious to the "vision thing" and that if they have not seen and touched something the possibility of change and a different future does not exist for them.
We are not all like that, but it seems that many are. It is easy to see why the past American tradition has been that elected officials must control policy and that the military does not dictate grand strategy or national policy. pl
