While on tour in Britain, as Stan Kenton began to introduce the next song, his big band suddenly began playing Happy Birthday to him, in a nice jazz version arranged by the great Bill Holman--
It has been an enormous help to many of us that you have not shown any disposition to 'fade away'. Your have referred to the autobiography from which you have posted extracts as 'So Long to Learn'.
Hopefully the time may come when rather more of those who, unlike the members of his 'Committee of Correspondence', have access to the levers of power, grasp that it does pay to pay attention to understanding born of long and often bitter experience.
Be that as it may, we can only hope for many more years in which those with intelligence enough to distinguish genuine insight and understanding from cheap imitations (as provided by Petraeus, Nagl, and so many civilian members of the 'imbecile clerisy' which has led us from one disaster to another) can derive instruction, and enjoyment, from SST.
Best Wishs on the day one looks back and reflects then one looks forward to the many more things to accomplish. You should be proud as you reflect as we all are proud of you. Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday col.
