And the IDFchief backs the choice,. (can't send the link as it is a premium and wouldn't transfer). Astounding- and alarming

Israel Defense Forces chief Gadi Eisenkot said Wednesday he was standing by his controversial decision to make Rabbi Eyal Karim the IDF's next chief rabbi, even if remarks Karim made as a civilian did not represent the military's values.
The rabbi's appointment, which still needs the approval of Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, has been harshly criticized because of his remarks on women, gay people and non-Jews.

Taken to the limit, modern radical Judaism is not so very unlike salafism, and that strain becomes more evident in Israeli society/culture/politics as time goes by.
But they have good propaganda and "we" think they're just like us.

How could ISIS smuggle one of its scholars into that IDF position?

Outrage Beyond

This 2004 Haaretz interview of Benny Morris would seem to indicate that rape has long been part of Zionist military doctrine:

According to your new findings, how many cases of Israeli rape were there in 1948?

"About a dozen. In Acre four soldiers raped a girl and murdered her and her father. In Jaffa, soldiers of the Kiryati Brigade raped one girl and tried to rape several more. At Hunin, which is in the Galilee, two girls were raped and then murdered. There were one or two cases of rape at Tantura, south of Haifa. There was one case of rape at Qula, in the center of the country. At the village of Abu Shusha, near Kibbutz Gezer [in the Ramle area] there were four female prisoners, one of whom was raped a number of times. And there were other cases. Usually more than one soldier was involved. Usually there were one or two Palestinian girls. In a large proportion of the cases the event ended with murder. Because neither the victims nor the rapists liked to report these events, we have to assume that the dozen cases of rape that were reported, which I found, are not the whole story. They are just the tip of the iceberg."

(Anyone who considers Benny Morris to be a "leftist" of any sort will be disabused of that notion after reading this interview, or his NY Times opinion piece in which he suggested Israel might use nuclear weapons against Iran. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/18/opinion/18morris.html?pagewanted=print)

mbrenner: For those of us who are pro-Palestinian, I relish the spectacle of Israel's true face being shown to the world.

Outrage Beyond: But two generations of Americans will never believe that Paul Newman would do that.

I'm still trying to work out who was the greater fiction writer, Leon Uris or Moses?

Does anyone here know how long this story has been out? The reason I ask is that there have been several incidents in Minneapolis the last few days that seem eerily similar, except for the fact that the perpetrators (for lack of a better term) are Muslim immigrants from East Africa instead of Jewish people. If this story has been floating around out there for a week or two or more, perhaps some of the less assimilated of the Twin Cities East African communities took "inspiration" from it.

PS: Lake Calhoun is completely surrounded by parkland and is very much on the right side of the tracks.

Imagine

Moses sent private scouts on ahead to torch the oil pools, thereby getting his "pillar of fire by night and cloud by day". The "thick darkness at noon" was an early experiment; world didn't see that one again until Saddam's time. The Ark of the Covenant was a huge gold capacitor that would fry people who touched it wrong, very convenient. That's why it had to be carried with very long wooden poles. Moses was trained at the Harvard + MIT of the day, he knew what he was doing.
