Well done!

Colonel, is safe to say Borg hates it 14 million times. Good of you informing this nation.

Degringolade

Keep it up.

BabelFish

Bravo!

Col Lang -

Do you have any sense of page view breakdowns, for example:

"Regular" viewers?

Country breakdowns, etc?

View trends over time (2016 YTD vs. same period 2015), etc.

Just curious..

Don't care much. The thing seems to be accelerating every year. Countries; USA. Canada, UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand seem to predominate. There are a lot of regular viewers and SST has between 5K and 10K viewers a day depending on how outrageous we are being. IMO there is a ceiling in viewership. You have to know quite a lot to follow the chat here. pl

Col.
Your web site is always one I go to in the morning. Those items that interest me I email to my friends and children and their spouses; esp. my son-in-law who is a SOF Marine. I was wondering if you have any comments on the National Cathedral removing the stained glass depicting the Confederate flag?

It is really Lee and Jackson that they want to remove from the embrace of the Episcopal Church but are taking it in stages. I am surprised it took this long. Today's PC world is unable to accept peoples' differences and does not respect difference of opinion. PL

LeaNder

congratulations, Colonel, I have to repeat myself. I never thought I would stay here as long as I did.

Most spaces, I don't look back on after, some I sometimes check. But this one feels rare concerning US politics*, which ultimately concern us too over here in Europe.

Fred

Stuart,

I noticed that too. It seems the "commission" believes all (white) Americans are Dylann Roof. So much for an "honest" discussion about race.

We thank you for your attention. pl

Let's double that;-) Congratulations, it is a milestone.

Congratulations Sir. And congratulations to all the SST correspondents. Great learning about important matters but most importantly cutting through the fog of Borg propaganda.

Colonel - Thanks for maintaining this space - a continuing source of information and thought-provoking opinion. As a non-military person, from a family with a long military history, I learn much from the experience and wisdom of those military people who take the time to post here.

I'm interested in your and correspondents' thoughts on this very bleak analysis on what ails the US military and the broader political culture:

Here's an excerpt to give readers a taste:

" In America these days, a great deal of this sort of cheerleading focuses on high-tech weapons systems—inevitably, since so much of contemporary American pop culture has become gizmocentric to the point of self-parody. Visit a website that deals with public affairs from a right-of-center viewpoint, and odds are you’ll find a flurry of articles praising the glories of this or that military technology with the sort of moist-palmed rapture that teenage boys used to direct to girlie-mag centerfolds. The identical attitude can be found in a dizzying array of venues these days, very much including Pentagon press releases and the bombastic speeches of politicians who are safely insulated from the realities of war.

There’s only one small difficulty here, which is that much of the hardware in question doesn’t work.

The poster child here is the F-35 Lightning II fighter. It so happens that I’ve faced a certain amount of recent embarrassment with regard to this plane, for a curious reason. Back in 2013 and 2014, when I was writing my novelTwilight’s Last Gleaming, I worked out what I thought was a reasonable estimate of the F-35’s performance in combat against Chinese J-20 and J-31 fighters. That estimate wasn’t exactly in accord with the dewy-eyed accounts just mentioned; the F-35—called the Lardbucket by Air Force pilots in my novel, due to its short range and sluggish performance in the air—came out decidedly second-best, suffering three losses for every two Chinese planes shot down. "

Somebody has said that he want to " Make America Great Again ".
That's exactly what you do here.
Bravo et merci.

Haralambos

Thanks for putting this up. I was planning to put one up that was similar for evaluation by the many folks here who are more knowledgeable than I am regarding the weapons systems and procurement priorities mentioned.

Haralambos

Thank you Col. I can confirm your opinion on the ceiling, at least anecdotally. I have strongly recommended the site URL to perhaps 25+ family and friends. Only a handful are daily readers, and even fewer, perhaps three, follow the comments religiously.

Emad

Colonel,

Congratulations on reaching this figure. It's no small feat.

John Mashl

Yes, Thank you Col Lang for all the knowledge and experience you and all the other contributors put into this website. IMO It is the place to go to for an in depth realistic assessment of what is happening in the Middle east and has been a favourite of mine for a long time.

kao_hsien_chih

Thank you for maintaining this site and dispensing insights as long as you have! :)

Mongoose

If only there were more sites that required thinking. Congratulations on the milestone. I'm going to have a shot of Redbreast Irish Whiskey in honor of the next 14 million. Fingers crossed.

Degringolade

Man o man...the best I ever did was 350 a day. Thought I was hot s&^t then.

I slink away with my tail between my legs

Colonel, You stated, "Today's PC world is unable to accept peoples'
differences and does not respect difference of opinion." I certainly agree,
and would like to add, as is shown in the decision to remove the window from the Cathedral, they want to obliterate history.

This type of cleansing is rampant across the County resulting in the removal
of beautiful bronze statuary in New Orleans & Atlanta. Can't help but wonder
what objects & dialogue will replace these treasures in the future.
