Sir,

I agree with Paul - this is just his rhetorical posturing, of which he is a master. I don't think he believes his own BS, but this is just his way of signaling "I am not a career politician".

Trump has changed the Overton Window on birthright citizenship of all things. This is amazing in this day and age.

No. I have dealt with too many like him not to recognize the breed. This is the real him. He would lead us into a dark place but then, so would many of the others including HC. She has developed an inability to cope with human contact that was reflected last night in her Fallon Show farce in which she had to speak to his "trump" on a telephone. pl

One of the interesting things last night was Jake Tapper's Freudian slip in referring to Syria as "an enemy of the United States." He meant the government. I would ask on what basis he so describes the SAG. Unlike the Iranians they have never said that. pl

From Fiorina's Wikipedia page: "In January 2001, HP laid off 1,700 marketing employees. In June 2001 Fiorina asked employees to take pay cuts or use vacation time to cut costs, resulting in more than 80,000 people signing up and saving HP US$130 million. In July, Fiorina announced that 6,000 jobs would be cut, the biggest reduction in the company's 64-year history,[74] leaving many employees feeling betrayed.[75] Following HP's gain in market share as a result of the 2002 merger, Fiorina laid off 30,000 U.S. employees.[76][77]"

She was "successful" at HP because these kinds of layoffs goose short-term stock prices, which gets conflated with actual good business these days. Once the carnage was over, she took her golden parachute and was on her way. It's not surprising that her foreign policy lacks any consideration for long-term requirements or consequences.

Sir,

I think we are at the "Man on a White Horse" stage of things. The Republic as we know it is dead, and has been for a while. I'd place my faith in someone who has a paradigm that I can understand versus that of a globalist/progressive blank slater.

We live in interesting times.

In a comment on another blog I had suggested a Survivor style selection process. Put them on a deserted island, and whoever walks out in August 2016 is automatically the nominee.

Col.,

It was a particularly cringe worthy question. Here it is in its entirety:

TAPPER: Thank you, Dr. Carson. Let's move to Russia if we could.

Russia is sending troops and tanks into Syria right now to prop up a U.S. enemy, Bashar al-Assad. President Obama's incoming top general says, quote, "Russia presents the greatest threat to our national security."

Mr. Trump, you say you can do business with President Vladimir Putin, you say you will get along, quote, "very well." What would you do right now if you were president, to get the Russians out of Syria?

"Tapper was raised in the Jewish faith;[7] his father was from a Jewish family, while his mother, a native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, converted from Presbyterianism to Judaism. He attended Akiba Hebrew Academy." wiki on Tapper. Akiba Hebrew Academy is evidently devoted to producing young Zionists. pl

Mr. Lang,

My family is dominated by small business people. So you are correct that the big business world is alien to me. Hence my resistance to accept "The Donald" character at face value.

From what I recall of your past post on this subject, you observed that the *structure* of government could not be moulded into the image of a "big business" enterprise. Perhaps you have another meaning, which I have not considered.

So in this regard, I see no fault in Trump. He seems to have no Romney-like designs on shaping the machine itself. He has merely outlined destinations which he would hope to reach through the existing tools available to any President.

My feeling is that you take exception to his constant references to "I'll let them know!". But even here, I see nuance. Like most of everything he says...there is a starting point of bluster and bravado. But when he is given the space to detail, I have constantly seen him defer to traditional diplomatic & policy tools. These include cordial personal relations, outlining of conservative & genuine "red lines", and technical negotiations involving experts.

More importantly, I don't see a Messianic zeal in him to re-shape the world. He merely wishes to get the best deal *possible* for his own people. So I don't see him irritating others and creating needless enemies. I don't know how much more of a diplomatic approach one could take.

Sorry if I have misunderstood your meaning,
Paul

Mr. Lang,

Re: Empathy

When she was describing the Planned Parenthood video of the breathing fetus...I was surprised by her genuine descension into sadness. She ended close to choked up and on the verge of tears.

No other candidate had that kind of moment. I think it was a display of empathy GOP voters may value...in the sense of: "Wow! If this Robot could shed a tear over this issue...maybe there is hope!"

Best,
Paul

You need to watch a few episodes of "shark Tank" to get the real flavor of what this class of people is like. They are monsters motivated by nothing but selfishness and narcissism. In an international political setting the opposition will take advantage of his defective soul. Look at the outthrust jaw the scowl, the continuous denigration of opponents. Actually, he and Fiorina are much alike. Read up on Mussolini. Walrus, say something. pl

Col. Lang -

I grew up in the NYC area and have been hearing about Trump since the 70s. He has always been what he is today, a loud-mouthed narcissistic a$$hole. I believe you are right on the money as to his character, it's not like he's ever tried to hide it.

However, he will be out of the race as soon as

1. He's not #1, or
2. He gets bored with the rather boring stuff you have to do as a political candidate

However, the stain that he was seriously considered as a Presidential candidate for one of the two major parties will remain.

,
Even a monster has shreds of decency. Hitler loved Blondi, but, alas, not poor Eva. Fiorina knows exactly the impact of the horrific meat market that PPH has been running and will milk it for all it is worth. pl

LOL! Indeed!

She tells me he was well known on campus as the cartoonist for the college newspaper.

Carly Fiorina is a monster. You think Obama is bad? Fiorina was finally ousted from HP after she sanctioned bugging of her Board of Directors. I was asked by a similar personality to spy for her and find "the dirt" on co workers.

To put that another way: "Lack of empathy" is a symptom, not the disease of narcissism. Carly will be a pathological lier who can do it with an absolutely straight face. If she cried about planned parent hood videos, then its because someone told her exactly when to turn on the tears and emotion.

walrus

In response to Col. Lang, "Normal" people, like members of SST, consistently underestimate the evil that lurks in the hearts of narcissists because they cannot conceive that anyone could deliberately commit the vile acts they perform.

We find it impossible to believe that these creatures exist and keep making excuses for their acts long after it is obvious that they are entirely unprincipled people bent on an endless crusade to bolster their self esteem at the expense of others. They are like drug addicts. They will do anything to get their daily "hit" - destroy people, families, companies, ,institutions, Governments and states int hire relentless quest.

Fiorina as President and perhaps Trump, who I have not studied in detail, would have no compunction in sending all of their supporters under a bus and still sleep well at night.

I was just about to paste a link to photo of Blondi and H.

Could not watch Shark Tank or the US Apprentice but got hooked on the UK version - mostly the personality of Alan Sugar. Could actually understand his appeal except he says politics and statecraft are so vastly different from business it requires a completely different human type. Perhaps that is what makes him attractive - along with his way with words.
