That's one hell of a sustained DDOS attack. TechCrunch guesses that this was an attack aimed to extort a ransom from TypePad. Seems to be a lot of that going around. Another site says it was an attack on the spam fighting company Blue Security that followed its web presence to TypePad. That's a lot of collateral damage.

I wish NSA and CYBERCOM would spend some time and effort on actually defending. They could do a lot in conjunction with NANOG and the FBI. I guess defense is just not sexy enough.
