"Another demand is a noticeable reinforcement of American forces in the Persian Gulf and emphasizing, mainly in the press, Washington's capabilities to stop Iran's nuclear program. The US has a substantial amount of forces in the Middle East and Central Asia, but many of them are busy with the war in Afghanistan and the piracy off the Horn of Africa. Moreover, some of the American, French and British forces in the Gulf are exposed to sea missiles, mines and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps' small assault boats. The concentration of US naval forces in the Indian Ocean, off Iran's shores – would demonstrate that Washington is determined to prevent the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and is prepared to strike if necessary." ynet news

Here we have a clear statement of the demands being made on the United States by Israel as "blackmail." pl
Left out of this is the fact that the Iranians already have a nuclear weapon of sorts. If you take one of their 1200 mile range missles, load the nose cone with powdered 20% enriched uranium and set it for an air burst of 3000 ft at destination you have a "dirty bomb".

Again, where are the "super" Patriots?
All this chatter about American Exceptionalism and not a peep about Zionland dragging America into an unnecessary war.
Pathetic.

That last paragraph is nice too 'close allies'? Where's a copy of that treaty of alliance?
Posted by: Fred | 15 August 2012 at 09:50 AM
A valiant effort Col. Lang but I am afraid that you will not win this one.
FOr the fact remains that the American people, through their freely elected representaives, support Israel to the hilt.
Simply put, Israel can do no wrong in US.
Sort of like Lincoln; you cannot tell a joke about Lincoln in USA.
Posted by: Babak Makkinejad | 15 August 2012 at 09:54 AM
It would also put a new concentration of US forces in the theatre in the event the Israeli' are "forced" to attempt to disable the Iranian nuclear threat "on their own".
Got to admire their Chutzpah

Or else we'll make the Middle East go BOOM just before the election.

Well, there's demands, and there's plans, and then there's banana peels.

And while the U.S. Navy does rush hour to protect/obey Israel, it has to protect the French and British from the Iranians too?
I see.

Colonel,
This email has been making rounds, and if were to be implemented, it would put the hobbles on the a-IPAC strangle-hold that they currently have on our Congress and our nation's foreign policy.
No foreign government which ever flavor, should have sway over our nation's course, it should the American people and ONLY the American people who set our nation's course. To heck with the Israeli parasite who is bleeding our nation dry, time for that and other foreign parasites to be jettisoned.
begin email:
Winds of Change....
Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward
This email to a minimum of twenty people on their
Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United
States of America will have the message.
This is one idea that really should be
Passed around.
_*Congressional Reform Act of 2012*_
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
The Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/31/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.
Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their Term(s), then go home and back to work.
If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive The message. Don't you think it's time?
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!
end email.
Once that the a-IPAC blackmail of our Congress is nullified, then we as a nation can begin to tell the Israeli government to go and stick their arrogant pipsqueak little parasite heads, in the septic system where all blackmailing parasites belong. Once that Congress has its Israeli shackles loosened, then DOJ and other Federal agencies can begin to put an end to the U.S. taxpayer provided donor funds that the Israeli government and their henchmen are money laundering to buy off the membership of the Congress.

I think you might want to conduct some further research. Graham Allison once described the difference between a nuclear weapon and a "dirty bomb" as "the difference between lightning and a lightning bug."
What you have described is not even a dirty bomb. This might help:

I am afraid that you are correct....I consider myself well versed in most aspects of what has taken place in the background in respect to our foreign affair policies; I proudly served in the military (in the last fiasco in Southeast Asia - two tours); my well educated peers are absolutely clueless during any discussions regarding the Middle East. American exceptionalism is the rallying cry in any conversation. That does not translate to patriotism.
Support for the "only true Democracy in the M.E." is based on the many cottage industries brainwashing our minds.......

What is "American Exceptionalism" but yet another jingo nationalist slogan? People who need such nonsense to encourage them to do their duty are weaklings. pl

Colonel, this is what seems to be driving the new American psyche..... I remember the many trade missions from the Soviet Union visiting our shores and their many emblematic lapel acoutrements....we found laughter in their symbolic patriotism.... God help the politician who does not attach the American Flag to his lapel!!!....

Any thoughts by others on the 2007 book by Michael B. Oren--POWER,FAITH,AND FANTASY--America in the Middle East 1776 to the Present?

With apologies to GRRM, "Blue or Red, a Dragon is still a Dragon." I define a Dragon as a mythical creature that will stand up to "The Others (White Walkers)" and their "Wights" in defense of "Westeros."

Apparently Richard Silverstein has gotten his hands on a document containing the high level attack plan.

From the BBC: Israel 'prepared for 30-day war with Iran'
Apparently Ehud Barak is estimating 500 deads on the Israeli side.
Ominous bit in the article: "the homes of senior figures in nuclear and missile development would also be targeted."

It wouldn't hurt, would it, if a few American politicians actually had the will to tell the
public the historical and current facts, and
a few American media outlets were willing to
carry it?
Posted by: Castellio | 15 August 2012 at 07:18 PM
eakens, Colonel,
Two items immediately caught my eye in Silverstein's article:
"....Before laying out the document, I wanted to place it in context. If you’ve been reading this blog you’ll know that after Bibi’s IDF service he became the marketing director for a furniture company. Recent revelations have suggested that he may have also served in some capacity either formally or informally in the Mossad during that period.
This document is a more sophisticated version of selling bedroom sets and three-piece sectionals. The only difference is that this marketing effort could lead to the death of thousands....."
and
"......It names new weapons systems including one Israel supposedly hasn’t even shared with the U.S. ...."

Accusing Israel of blackmail is a bit excessive. Just remember that Israel is defending the entire Western civilization against Iranian and Syrian expansionist fascists. These people want to resurrect the Islamic Caliphate and the only thing stopping them right now is the tiny state of Israel.

While you are certainly correct about the vast majority of our elected officials, I think your take on the US public's support for Israel is not quite accurate.
To be cliched about it, that support is a mile wide and about an inch deep. If you asked the public about Israel you would mostly hear a reflexive responsive of, "oh yeah, our ally and a mideastern democracy", with perhaps some grumblings about the aid Israel receives. But that would be about it.
I think you underestimate the public's disgust with our endless wars. Americans are far, far more concerned about the economy than going to aid Israel in the mideast.
I wouldn't say that a call by the politicians to go "save" Israel from the evil Iranians wouldn't resonate with some, particularly the zionists and christian fundamentalists, but I don't think you find much more support than that for going whole hog in full military support of an Israeli war against Iran that was started by Israel.
Poll after poll has shown that the public feels that Israel should solve its own problems without US involvement.
Not that it makes much difference. I'm talking about the attitudes of the public, not our leaders.

Absolute nonsense! If you knew anything about the ME beside the interests of your tribal brethren you would be dangerous. The Syrian government under tha Assads has ALWAYS been extremely secular. I have spent enough time in Damascus night clubs with the booze flowing freely and gorgeous women dancing on the tables to know that, Iran is SHIA! Do you have any idea what that means? Evidently not. pl

More from the rumor and propaganda mill. Israel channel 10 television has said that Obama is to tell Netanyahu at a meeting in late September or early October that the U.S. will attack Iran by June 2013 if Iran has not halted its nuclear weapons "program" by then.

One more item.............Once any elected member or unelected member of the Federal Government quits their "service" to our country ,they can have no business dealings of any sort ,at any time ,under any circumstances with the government.Either directly or indirectly. It will be a first class felony to do so................Also term limits for all members of Congress, say 2 terms for Senators and 5 for reps.Take the money out of the the government and everything will change .
