This doesn't have anything to do with the TA post but I think it is a great picture. pl

Looks, a lot like my neighbors.... When they are in a good mood.

Speaking of pictures, does anyone know how to replace the pattern squares on the left of the comments with graphics/pictures etc?

my kind. Do they make good corn? pl

Between pot, meth, and welfare, the cottage "shine" business is in terminal decline. None of the younger generation followed in "paw's" footsteps. Sad, actually.
Having said this, I do happen to have a jug of corn down in the barn, and an unused still in the brush by the trout stream.

Nature's noblemen. I would like a drink. pl

Hey Highlander, my father built a still aboard a troopship. Unfortunately, it blew up somewhere in the Mediterranean. It was the primary reason why he had to make sergeant twice in the Corps. Once he settled down a bit, he stuck to beer and dandelion wine. I was weaned on that dandelion wine.

I like the way those Boer G's thought to put flowers in their lapels for that picture... bold and classy.

That dandelion wine is probably responsible for the genius designation in your handle.
On the other hand, the Corps heritage could be responsible for the twisted part.

Colonel,
Even with the boutique shine with and an apple or pear in the jug, well about one good swig is enough for me.
But,I keep am ample supply of some very fine single malts on hand, to wash the shine down with. I'd be pleased to share either beverage with you.

highlander,
sounds like a fine micro-distil. I'm sure you could bottle that as 'American Highlands'

It took the Brits awhile to learn how to deal with them, which they promply forgot in WWI (if they learned at all).
Posted by: Fred | 18 October 2011 at 04:57 PM
Not a bad brand name, you'd just have to get the product to match it.

I miss the dandelion wine, but the beer gets better and better every year. Whenever the former Marine and the former Green Beret get together, we put a good dent in the stash.

Not with a spiffy label and the right advertising.
Posted by: rjj | 19 October 2011 at 01:23 AM
Exactly. You could get WallStreets finest to shell out a couple of Franklin's each. Just label it 'cask 99'. They wouldn't even get the joke.

Among other interesting critters up here, we have a small community of South African refugees,Boer, English, and Jewish.
They all say, that if there is one thing, you want to do. It is,to avoid pissing off a Boer at all costs.

if it were earlier in the son-of-the-soil nostalgia/authenticity craze, I would say go artisanal and do it up in Mason Jars with hand penciled labels "Highland Hollow Hooch" or "Richland County Red Eye" ...
but add a tiny label certifying it to be methanol and lead free.
maybe save that idea till after the frackers and mountain top removers get done with their work.
