"Israel, a wealthy Middle Eastern nation with a powerful army and nuclear weapons, has long been under attack from Barack Obama, who hates them for their freedom. Obama hates Israel so much that he would like to encourage them to make the concessions necessary for their survival as a democratic state, and he expresses his hatred by negotiating with their leaders and constantly affirming his support for them. Thankfully, Hero of Democracy Bill Kristol is here to save Israel, along with some donors whose names will never be disclosed, because of freedom. Kristol is part of a new group called "The Emergency Committee for Israel," and they will save Israel from Obama by airing attack ads explicitly linking Democrats to terrorists, because it is still the years 2002 and 2004." Admital Joe Sestak should feel complimented. The Ziocons are going after him with big money and a media blitz while the MSM types like Joe Scarborough and the lovely Mika look on wondering how far to go in submitting and how quickly.
Why is this new outfit not a candidate for registration under FARA? It advocates partucular American foreign policy positions on behalf of foreign country and seeks to directly pressure legislators to adopt positions favorable to that foreign power. Ah, I know the answer... The Ziocons have the muscle in the Obama Administration to block that at Justice. In any event the Justice Department is too busy suing Arizona to focus on that.
Terry McCauliffe voiced a moment of doubt this morning on MJ about the political wisdom of ads like the one floated by this group aginst Sestak, but then, you could see the latent fear in his eyes as he mumbled to a halt.
The level of fury and angst in "defense" of Israel is risng steadily in the media. The clock is ticking. In November 2002 I told an audience in Lexington, Virginia that the train had already left the station headed for Iraq. This train is waiting for the conductor to board the passengers. pl
The 64 dollar question -- how do we 'de-rail' this train so it can't leave the station?

is there a silent oppressive political force in america which even the likes of Terry McCauliffe silence themselves before, as col Lang mentioned in describing the interview, "you could see the latent fear in his eyes as he mumbled to a halt." .

I know you keep saying this about Iran but is Obama really this stupid? You may be correct it's just hard to believe.

Obama has completely surrendered to the Lobby.

Depressing prospect. I'll recommend my mother to buy oil early this year.
What I wonder about most is why the people mandating these wars of choice think that they will succeed, and that they can control the outcome. Odds are that they don't and can't. They didn't in Iraq. They sure don't in Afghanistan.

J,
Notice that Jeffrey Goldberg, who's a well-known liar for the Likudniks, broke this story about The United Arab Emirates (UAE) not wanting to live with a nuclear Iran:
http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2010/07/uae-ambassador-on-the-challenge-of-iran/59252/
So this story probably has as much truth to it as the one that the Likudnik lying-machine cooked up about how Saudi Arabia gave Israel permission to use its airspace to bomb Iran:
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3742313,00.html
This leads me to say that Israel can dream all it wants about dividing the Sunnis from the Shias or the Arabs from the Persians in order to maintain its sole superpower status in the Middle East, but neither dream is ever likely to come true. But I still don't think this will stop the lying Likudniks from helping our war hawks to lie us into a war against Iran, just as they have done to us with regards to Iraq.
Nevertheless, I will point out that the rulers of the UAE have allowed a Muslim hater like Dick Cheney to use their country as a safe haven for his tax dodging activities, and they even may allow another Muslim hater like Erik Prince to use their country as a safe haven for his war criminal activities:
http://www.thenation.com/blog/blackwaters-erik-prince-moving-united-arab-emirates?page=0,0,0,1#comments
So I think it's quite conceivable that the Shia-hating, Persian-hating rulers of the UAE may indeed decide to back Israel in its war against Iran. But even if they don't back the Israelis, I still think that the BRIC block, including Turkey, and possibly even Iran, will end up as winners with the US and Israel as the losers in an Israeli-led war against Iran. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, especially as it relates to the UAE and the BRIC block.

Open a third front...
Historically, is there a precedent?
And yet...and yet...Colonel Lang, who certainly, certainly knows more about this than I do, says it will happen.
A Sherlock Holmes moment.
Eliminate the impossible and whatever remains...
The Israel lobby sees that it is in 1789 (how appropriate that tomorrow is Bastille Day) territory with what it has done to the American economy and realizes that more and more war is the only way it can cling to power.
This will not end well. Not in a thousand years. Yeah, those thousand years.

We should thank Businessman and WallStreet Financier Pat Toomey for his generosity with the blood of the American soldier. While he (Toomey) never had time to defend America he sure had time and courage to complain about his burden as an American and now he heaps contempt upon those who choose to spend a lifetime in service to our people rather than in pursuit of Money.
Where are all those American Jobs Toomeys Trillion (in tax cuts for wall street) made?

Watching the build up of wildly ignorant diatribes on behalf of Israel I cannot help but see us approaching an Armageddon, not of good versus evil, but evil versus evil - unprecedented ignorance overshadowing the once healthy and vibrant American dream.

The Emergency Committee for Israel...hmm, well we can monitor and analyze this network for some fun.
1. From David Frum, the Canadian Jewish follower of the US Neocons who landed a job in the Reagan White House (security clearance process???) and then did the "axis of evil" thing:
"Emergency Committee for Israel

Jennifer Rubin at Commentary describes the launch of a new pro-Israel group, the Emergency Committee for Israel:
There is a gaping hole in the Jewish community’s response to the Obama administration and in its defense of Israel. In the past, these groups’ close relationship with incumbent administrations has served them well. But as I have written for nearly a year, that tactic is not suited to the current challenges and has proven counterproductive in the Obama era. The need is great to expose, confront, and challenge the administration when it, for example, eggs on an international flotilla investigation or excepts Russia and China from sanctions on Iran or mindlessly pursues engagement with Syria.
Probably much of the press attention will go to the group's directors, which include Bill Kristol. But the real news is the group's director: Noah Pollak, a friend of mine, and a brilliant advocate for rethinking Israel's self-defense in a new media era. He was instrumental in persuading the Israeli Defense Forces to launch their own YouTube channel, which did enormous service rebutting falsehoods during the Gaza campaign.
It's long been a thesis of mine, to adapt Clausewitz, that modern warfare is PR by other means. Pollak understands this truth (wrote his Yale thesis on it) - and friends of Israel will be excited to watch his deployment of the truth in the critical days ahead.
Here's a link to the committee's first ad, which will run in Pennsylvania.
andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/07/emergency-committee-for-israel.html
2. And this from COMMENTARY Magazine which was founded in 1946 by the powerful American Jewish Committee. The AJC was a Wall Street emanation of the Anglo-Zionist Kuhn Loeb banking house (Jacob Schiff and all that):
"Leading conservatives will launch a new pro-Israel group this week with a scathing attack on Rep. Joe Sestak, the Democratic Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, the first shot in what they say will be a confrontational campaign against the Obama administration’s Mideast policy and the Democrats who support it.
The Emergency Committee for Israel’s leadership unites two major strands of support for the Jewish state: The hawkish, neoconservative wing of the Republican Party, many of whom are Jewish; and conservative Evangelical Christians who have become increasingly outspoken in their support for Israel. The new group’s board includes Weekly Standard Editor William Kristol and Gary Bauer, the former Republican presidential candidate who leads the group American Values, as well as Rachel Abrams, a conservative writer and activist. Former McCain aide Michael Goldfarb is an adviser to the group.
“We’re the pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community,” said Kristol.
This group is not affiliated with COMMENTARY but in the interests of full disclosure, we note that Noah Pollak, who has contributed to this blog as well as to COMMENTARY, will be the ECI’s executive director."

One might assess that the formation of this (among others) committee is an indicator the Israelis and the higher circles behind Israel are mobilizing prior to the war against Iran.
And we do recall the Brit Foreign Minister Balfour's "Declaration" was in the style of a letter to one of the higher circle of Zionism, Lord Rothschild. And, naturally, Sir William Wiseman (remember him?) was a partner at Kuhn Loeb, ho hum...

Colonel,
do the warmongers forget what General Petreus said earlier this year? I am hard pressed to believe that US will permit this war on Iran. What do you and others think about the Petreus and Mullen stated position?
Posted by: fanto | 13 July 2010 at 01:50 PM
Well, if you look at defense of mainland America as one front, then Afghanistan as a second front and Iraq as a third front.....then Pakistan is what? A third and a half front......then Iran...Yemen....Somalia...
Syria.....

Is that why 46 warships and 7,000 troops are on their way to Costa Rica right now, ostensibly to combat the war on drugs? Protect against Chavez shooting at us for bombing Iran?

The logotype for the Emergency Committee for Israel is US Military stencil type. Telling.

If America were to launch a preemptive attack on Iran she will be seen evermore as an international Pariah, a rogue state to be disdained and avoided. This wonderful nation that we have known will become a mere footnote in history.

As GregB notes, this is a many headed hydra. How many heads do the boosters of perpetual war think they can lop off, particularly when they haven't really succeeded anywhere?
As for Israel, they need to realize that a parasite only succeeds when it doesn't kill its host...

I sincerely pray that you are wrong, but if I had to trust anyone's intuition, it would be yours.
We have several Lebanese friends and my daughter's best friend is Lebanese (half). She is invited to spend a month in Lebanon this summer. It would be a magical experience, but not with the IDF laying out the civilian targets as we speak.
The terrorists have won.

Castellio, [email protected],
It was rumored that the original subject and later creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was an Israeli idea in origin.
Doesn't it look like that DHS is a mirror image of the Israeli Ministry of Public Security?
Now that is scary.
