This is from FDR's first inaugural address in 1933: "This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

As most of the free Guantanamo inmates were not guilty of anything but being in the wrong place at the wrong time the whole concept of recidivism in connection with those freed from Gitmo is bogus.

How can it be recidivism if they did nothing wrong in the first place?

What "elites"? What "nobles"?

Where are they? What you are calling for is sound and wise. I believe. But you are asking, for the most part, special emphasis on the word "most", small men and women to act 'large'. The "leveling" syndrome, of course, has consequences.

None of this is to imply there are not elite and noble types out there. But increasingly, I would argue, they are, by their very attributes, some might say, excluded from the 'halls of power'. It's a celebrity world out there.
