Though I can't recall one "car" song he's ever recorded, I would truly be remiss without posting a link to Doc Watson, whose music is always included in the mix cd playing over the loudspeakers at Mason's Cruise-In:

Sweet Georgia Brown, Black Mountain Rag- Doc & Merle Watson
(youtube vid includes lovely photos of NC, Doc's home state)

I enjoyed reading both the current and background posts on the Masons family. May I put in a plug for nearby Greenville, the home of Falls Park on the Reedy and Shoeless Joe Jackson?

Greenville is a lovely city- have visited there several times. Let's also mention that 1925 Art Deco wonder in downtown Greenville, the Poinsett Hotel (now Westin Poinsett). Sitting on the Poinsett mezzanine looking down into the lobby is a trip back in time:

I remember Jerry Mason well from the Fast and Furious we shopped together in Miami. Thanks for reminding me of his generosity to this grease monkey and his family.

I also remember Jerry from that F&F location, but the 1st time I really got a chance to talk at length with him was during one memorable lunch you might recall at the Piccadilly Cafeteria in Baton Rouge. Jerry's one of those quiet forces for good in this world.

Nice post, Maureen. Thank you for sending me the link. Here are two more songs for your car list, one's a real oldie.
