The Diocese of Rome issued the strongly worded statement after the conservative Panorama newsweekly said in a cover story and accompanying video that it had interviewed three gay priests in Rome and accompanied them to gay clubs and bars and to sexual encounters with strangers, including one in achurch building. One of the priests, a Frenchman identified only as Paul, celebrated Mass in the morning before driving the two escorts he had hired to attend a party the night before to the airport, Panorama said." On the other hand I have known some who were lazy, hypocritical and driven by personal ambition. Atheists should not comment here on matters of theology. This is not about that. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual behavior is contrary to the natural law. So long as it teaches that, then it must enforce that position using the ecclesiastical courts as vehicles. the Catholic Church is in grave danger of schism over a number of issues, not the least of which is the despicable way in which the hierarchy protected sex offenders for many years at the expense of the faithful. You cannot be a Roman Catholic priest and lead an unrepentant life of what the Church says is sin. If that kind of behavior is tolerated, then the Church is doomed. pl
